Postcardiac injury syndrome after coronary angioplasty and stenting.

چکیده
Pleuropericarditis has been described in many patients after a variety of cardiac insults, including infarction and surgery or trauma to the heart. The syndrome of fever, pleural effusion, chest pain, and an elevated sedimentation rate after cardiac injury is referred to as the postcardiac injury syndrome (PCIS). PCIS actually includes two distinct entities, the postmyocardial infarction syndrome (PMIS), which occurs after myocardial infarction, and the postcardiotomy syndrome (PCS), which occurs after cardiac surgery or trauma. We report a rare case of PCIS that occurred after an uncomplicated coronary angioplasty and stenting.

A Case of Postcardiac Injury Syndrome Presenting as Acute Mediastinitis
A 41-year-old man sought evaluation at the emergency department for pain in the anterior chest that had been ongoing for approximately 35 hours. The electrocardiogram showed marked ST segment elevation in the precordial leads. Cardiac biomarker levels were elevated. He subsequently underwent coronary angioplasty and stenting of the left anterior descending artery using two sirolimus-eluting ste...
متن کاملImmediate and Short-term Follow-Up of Aortic Coarctation Balloon Angioplasty and Stenting
Background Aortic Coarcatation (CoA) is one of the congenital heart diseases with the rate of 5-8% of Coronary heart diseases(CHDs). Balloon angioplasty is now one of the effective way of treatment for CoA, native or Re-coarctation (Re-CoA). We aimed to assess the immediate, and short term response to angioplasty and stenting, and also complications. Materials and Methods Balloon angioplasty wi...
متن کاملPostcardiac injury syndrome.
A 58-year-old man had undergone 2-vessel off-pump coronary artery bypass surgery (OPCAB), 1 month before he was admitted into the hospital with cardiac tamponade due to pericarditis. Postcardiac injury syndrome (PCIS) was diagnosed. In spite of receiving anti-inflammatory treatment, the patient developed relapsing PCIS.
متن کاملIs bare-metal stenting superior to balloon angioplasty for small vessel coronary artery disease? Evidence from a meta-analysis of randomized trials.
AIMS To compare, by meta-analytical techniques, the clinical impact of bare-metal stenting vs. balloon angioplasty for the treatment of lesions in small coronary arteries. METHODS AND RESULTS We included trials with random allocation and prospective comparison of angioplasty vs. stenting, reference vessel diameter<3 mm, and follow-up>or=6 months. Random effect odds ratios (OR) for death, myoc...
متن کاملTransient Constrictive Pericarditis after Coronary Bypass Surgery
Constrictive pericarditis is a rare complication after coronary artery bypass grafting In most cases pericardiectomy is required as a definitive treatment. However, there are several types of constrictive pericarditis such as transient cardiac constriction. Some types of constrictive pericarditis can only be managed with medical therapy. We report a 72-year-old female patient who developed suba...
